Technical Introduction

Integrated Data-Driven Control for Ground Engineering Operations

Ground engineering works are highly dependent on execution quality, yet traditional control methods rely heavily on manual measurement, fragmented records, and delayed verification. This often leads to inconsistencies in construction quality, limited transparency, and increased safety risks.

Our Digital Ground Engineering Monitoring & Control System is an integrated hardware–software solution designed to transform construction processes into a data-driven and controllable system. By combining on-equipment sensing devices, IoT-enabled data transmission, high-precision positioning, and a centralised digital platform, the system enables real-time acquisition, transmission, and analysis of critical construction parameters.

It provides continuous visibility into construction activities while supporting intelligent assessment of execution quality, enabling more consistent, transparent, and verifiable ground engineering outcomes.

System Architecture

The system is structured as an integrated engineering control framework, connecting field operations with real-time data processing and centralised management:

Field Data Acquisition

Monitoring devices are installed directly on construction equipment, operating independently with integrated power supply and communication modules. Through high-precision positioning and multi-sensor integration, the system captures real-time construction data at source, including execution sequence, energy input, equipment position, and ground response.

This enables accurate, automated data capture without reliance on manual measurement, improving data reliability while reducing the need for personnel in high-risk areas.

Data Transmission & Processing

Captured data is transmitted in real time via secure IoT-based communication protocols to a central platform, where it is automatically processed, structured, and stored. Engineering algorithms convert raw data into meaningful performance indicators aligned with construction requirements, supporting real-time validation of execution parameters and consistency across treatment areas.

Digital Control Platform

A unified interface provides real-time visualisation, data management, and analysis tools. Project stakeholders can access live construction data, monitor progress, and review execution quality remotely.

The platform enables transparent information sharing, supports informed decision-making during construction, and provides a complete, traceable record of the execution process.

Applications

The system is currently deployed and validated in the following ground engineering methods:

  • Dynamic Compaction (DC / HEDC)
  • Vibro Compaction
  • Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD)

These applications demonstrate the system’s capability in managing high-energy ground treatment processes and real-time construction control.

The system is designed with a modular architecture and is actively being expanded to support additional ground engineering methods as requirements evolve.
